Syncthing Makes Syncing Easier

Most of you would know what Syncthing is, but for those who don’t know, Syncthing is a free, open-source peer-to-peer file synchronization application.

I started to use Syncthing from last year to sync my journal entries from my phone. Instead of using some cloud server to sync and store my stuff, I like to have a local instance which does the same thing for me. Syncthing has helped to save some time when copying stuff from my laptop to phone. Previously, I used to use USB cable to transfer my stuff, although it is an easier option, it takes a while to get the cable, connect it and then start to copy.

With Syncthing the process becomes a lot faster. I just need to configure the folder location on my phone, add my laptop to the devices list, and then on my laptop repeat the same process of selecting the folder to sync. Once that’s done, you don’t have to repeat it again, untill if you need to add a new location to sync.

If you need to only receive stuff from your laptop or phone you could do that easily, it also allows to do send and receive operations if you need one. Personally I just use Syncthing to receive stuff from my laptop and send stuff from my phone.

Syncthing is an amazing application to have, if you have never tried it before, give it a short and you would definitely love it.
