Printer Support on Linux
After switching to Linux, my only issue was how I’m gonna use my printer, due to it’s drivers and software. I use an Epson printer, and it’s software allows to do a lot of things, such as head cleaning in one click, checking ink and etc. I was aware that, I would loose control of those things after switching, so looked up on the internet to find some ways to tackle them.
The first step was finding the exact drivers for Linux, which I got from Epson support website, which contains the printer driver as well as scanner driver. I downloaded both of them, according to my printer model. With scanner driver, I also got image scanning app installed on my system.
The next problem to tackle was, printer head cleaning through software, which I failed to find one, so instead I decided to go with old school way of using buttons on the printer. After reading the User Manuel, I was able to figure out a way to do that.
It’s been more than 5 months, since I switched all of my systems to Linux, and so far I have got no issues with the printer support.
